The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF now has 143 member churches in 79 countries all over the world representing 70.5 million Christians.
As a program of the Department for World Service, LWF Jerusalem works to serve the humanitarian needs of the poor and marginalized, following the example of Jesus Christ.
LWF Jerusalem focuses on:
- Emergency assistance through development, advocacy, peace and reconciliation initiatives, and disaster relief;
- Service to refugees, those living in poverty, and the marginalized; and
- Ecumenical partnerships (LWF is a member of Action by Churches Together)
The LWF Central Office is located on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
